Winston-Salem Facility
IFB Solutions started out in 1936 as Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind, a two-room shop with six blind workers.
Initial support from the local Lion’s Club and Goodwill Industries helped establish the IFB Solutions Winston-Salem Facility as one of the nation’s largest sites employing people who are blind or visually impaired. Today, IFB Solutions as a whole employs nearly 1,000 people. Employees manage field operations for nearly 20 Base Supply Centers on military bases and in federal office buildings. IFB Solutions’ 120,000-square-foot, facility in Winston-Salem offers nationally recognized high-tech optical services.
IFB Solutions Winston-Salem features:
- Facilities for sewing, assembling and packaging products such as mattresses, apparel, bags and harnesses
- A Community Low Vision Center and retail store for low-vision products
- Tracy’s Little Red Schoolhouse and TAD’s room, where children and adults who are blind or visually impaired learn independent living and job skills
