Welcome New Team Members

We’re excited to welcome two new additions to the Asheville team.

Betty Stevenson joins us as a sewing machine operator in the FHS department. Betty is a rehire, and we’re so glad to have her back as part of the team. Her experience and familiarity with IFB make her a great asset. Michaela Middleton joins us as a shipping/packer on the military markets team. In this role, Michaela will support the team by helping to ensure products are packed and shipped efficiently to meet customers’ needs.

Please join us in welcoming Betty and Michaela—we are glad to have you both on the team!

Employee Spotlight Featuring Nicole Singleton, Workforce Services

Headshot of Nicole Singleton

Welcome to the Employee Spotlight. Each week, we celebrate the incredible individuals who make IFB thrive. This week, we’re excited to feature Nicole Singleton with the North Carolina Office of Vital Records.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I was born in Newport News, Virginia, but my family moved to Washington, D.C. when I was very young. I grew up in the D.C. and Maryland area.

Q: How long have you been at IFB, and what brought you to the organization?
A: I’ve been with IFB since August 2025. I was referred to the organization by a friend.

Q: What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?
A: I’m deeply passionate about advocating for blind and low-vision women. I spend much of my time supporting a women’s group where I help uplift and empower others to see their beauty, strength and resilience beyond their sight. I also host a podcast called Teatime with Nicky, and this month I’m spotlighting women of strength and courage.

Q: What’s your all-time favorite food or meal?
A: I love seafood.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at IFB?
A: I enjoy being part of a team that is both understanding and inclusive. They make sure I have what I need to succeed while also treating me as an equal, which means a lot to me.

Q: What’s a quote or word of advice you’d give to a friend?
A: “Be the change you want to see in others,” and “Let’s get it.” The first reminds me to lead by example and make a positive impact, while the second keeps me motivated and ready to take action every day.

Special thanks to Director of Professional Services, Shannon Satterfield, for supporting these highlights. Who knows? You might be next in the spotlight! Stay tuned, and thanks for reading.
