Understanding Through Experience

Sensitivity to Blindness Training at IFB - participants wear blindfolds and hold their canes ready to practice.

How do you interact respectfully with a person who is blind? How does Braille work? What is the proper etiquette for interacting with a guide dog?

IFB Solutions’ Learning About Blindness (LAB) is an engaging, hands-on, two-hour experience led by people who are blind or visually impaired. Participants gain a better understanding of blindness and low vision while learning practical ways to create more accessible workplaces and communities.

LAB is a unique opportunity for professional development, accessibility training, and team building. Participants leave with greater awareness of blindness and low vision, practical skills for respectful interaction, and a deeper appreciation for the independence and abilities of people who are blind or visually impaired.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Blindfold & Low-Vision Activities: Experience everyday tasks from a different perspective.
  • Braille: Learn the basics through interactive activities.
