Building Skills for Employment

An employee who is blind uses JAWS

IFB Solutions’ JAWS Job Readiness Training helps people who are blind or visually impaired strengthen the technology and workplace skills needed to grow in their careers.

Participants build practical experience using Job Access With Speech (JAWS) screen-reading software in a professional setting while preparing for the expectations of remote employment.

This pre-employment training is designed for individuals interested in improving their qualifications for work-from-home customer service staffing roles. Training focuses on using JAWS effectively while completing the types of computer-based tasks commonly required in a remote workplace.

Participants will complete assignments between class sessions to reinforce what they learn and build greater speed, confidence and independence.

To participate, individuals must:

  • Complete an application and initial skills assessment
  • Have basic typing and computer skills
  • Have a working JAWS license*

*Need-based assistance with a JAWS license may be available for participants planning to pursue employment through IFB Solutions’ Workforce Services Expansion Program.
