The IFB Beat 4-14 Edition

A Message from the Editor

Greetings al!

As we embrace the beauty and renewal of spring, I want to take a moment to wish each of you a joyful and peaceful Easter season. This time of year is a powerful reminder of hope, growth, and fresh beginnings—values that deeply align with our mission and the incredible work you do every day.

In observance of Good Friday, all administrative offices will be closed on Friday, April 18. We’ll resume our regular schedule on Monday, April 21. We hope you’re able to take this time to rest, reflect, and enjoy a well-deserved long weekend with loved ones.

In this issue, we’re excited to introduce you to our outstanding Base Supply Center (BSC) Team, whose dedication ensures our customers are always supported. We’re also thrilled to welcome several new employees to the IFB family—please join us in making them feel at home!

If you’re at the Winston-Salem Facility: be sure to review the latest Trans-Aid schedule updates to help you plan your transportation needs; we’re proud to support the Forsyth Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) through their weekly Cake Sale this April, as well as the much-anticipated Second Chance Prom. These events are not only a lot of fun—they also make a meaningful impact in our local blind community.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter and a refreshing start to the season!

Meet the IFB Solutions BSC Team

In the next few editions of The IFB Beat, we will introduce you to the IFB Solutions BSC department. This week we highlight David Newsome, Director of Base Supply Centers and Wendy Yokley, BSC Key Account Specialist & Operational Support.

David Newsome

David Newsome

Director of Base Supply Centers

David Newsome has been with IFB for 24 years, but his connection to the organization runs even deeper. Having grown up in the area, David was introduced to IFB at a young age—his uncle, Delmer Wall, served as CEO in the 1980s and 1990s. As a child, he attended many IFB functions, including the grand opening of the current facility in 1983.

As Director of Base Supply Centers, David is responsible for the daily operations and sales of IFB’s 15 Base Supply Centers. He leads a dedicated team, including Jim Caliendo, James Logan, Shannon Martin, Tracye Miller, and Wendy Yokley, ensuring that each center runs efficiently to support IFB’s mission.

“Having grown up around and working at IFB, the mission is second to none,” David shares.

Outside of work, David’s life stays busy with his three children, of whom he is incredibly proud.

Wendy Yokley

Wendy Yokley

BSC Key Account Specialist & Operational Support

Wendy Yokley is currently in her 22nd year with IFB, a journey that began through Winston Personnel Services in what was initially a temporary role. Nearly 22 years later, she continues to make a meaningful impact by supporting essential logistics operations and advancing IFB’s mission.

In her role, Wendy supports ongoing training within 4PL operations and plays a key part in transitioning responsibilities to a new team member. The 4PL (Fourth-Party Logistics) program, based at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, is a critical supply chain partnership with GSA that supports a government industrial customer on base. Wendy serves as a go-to resource for troubleshooting and resolving 4PL-related issues as they arise. She also collaborates on special projects across the BSC department to advance key business initiatives. In addition, she provides backup support for item setup and maintenance, ensuring accurate data entry for new items.

Reflecting on her time at IFB, Wendy shares: “My experience working at Winston-Salem IFB has been invaluable. As I reflect on 22 years with this company, I’m filled with gratitude for the journey so far. It’s been a path of growth, change, and countless memories. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many talented, supportive, and inspiring people who have shaped not only my professional life but my personal one as well. I’ve seen the company evolve, weather challenges, and celebrate milestones—and through it all, I’ve been proud to contribute in whatever way I could. From learning new systems and processes to training teammates and supporting key initiatives, it’s been a rewarding experience. Most of all, I’m thankful for the relationships built along the way—the mentors, coworkers, and friends who’ve made this more than just a job. ”

Outside of work, Wendy is a devoted mom to her 22-year-old son, who has high-functioning Autism (Asperger’s Syndrome) and Crohn’s disease. She is currently navigating her first recurrence of stage 4B Ovarian Cancer, demonstrating incredible strength and resilience. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, spending time with her family, and advocating for Autism and Ovarian Cancer.

IFB Programs Update: Sunset Theater

See students in their seats at the theater

The S.E.E. Program enjoyed an evening at the Sunset Theater in Asheboro attending the play “Aladdin” performed by the Randolph Youth Theater Company 6 to 12 year olds.  These talented young actors had practiced long and hard to learn their lines, songs, and dances.  They delivered an excellent show for a sold out audience.  We also enjoyed supper with Shannon Satterfield, Director of IFB Professional Services and his wife at The Flying Pig restaurant.  What a wonderful evening!
