Trainer

Department:           Production

Reports to:              Production Manager

 

Summary Statement:  Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, the employee in this position evaluates, trains, and retrains employees to perform at their highest level of efficiency.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Plan, direct and control the training process for each employee.
  2. Analyze training needs to develop new training processes or modify/improve existing processes.
  3. Evaluate trainees’ performance on a regular basis using established performance indicators.
  4. Develop and maintain training records for individuals being trained; provide progress reports to manager on a regular basis.
  5. Maintain operational knowledge of all plant processes in order to effectively train others.
  6. Periodically review training materials with various supervisors to ensure materials remain accurate.
  7. Learn the operations of all new sewing contracts, administering sewing assessments to potential new hires.
  8. Provide safety training and new hire orientation to all new hires.

 

Marginal Job Functions

  1. Assist other department personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  2. Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  3. Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.

 

 Working Conditions

  1. Must be able to bend, walk and stand for 8 hours per day.
  2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  1. Must be able to visually perform inspections of trainees’ work.
  2. Must have excellent presentation and communication skills.
  3. Must have ability to build interpersonal relationships.
  4. Must have the ability to convey successful training attributes based upon individual needs using a variety of techniques, fixtures and devises.
  5. Must have the ability to encourage and motivate.
  6. Must display patience.
  7. Must have a basic working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  8. Must be able to professionally encourage and facilitate cooperation and teamwork in order to reach a common goal.
  9. Must have the skill to act in a tactful, sensitive manner.

 

Education and Work Experience

  1. High school diploma or GED is required.
  2. Previous training experience preferred.

 

Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
