IFB Beat – Week of November 27, 2023

A Message from the Editor

As we continue to celebrate the holiday season, lets remember the words of William Arthur Ward “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” Thanks for reading and have a wonderful week!

See what S.E.E. is Doing

S.E.E. students enjoy their thanksgiving meal.

The S.E.E. kids and staff enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal together around the table in the schoolhouse. Everyone helped put on the tablecloth, set the table, peel the potatoes, preheat the oven, spray the baking sheet to place the rolls on, and open the cans of green beans and corn. We seasoned the turkey, stuffing, and gravy with rosemary grown in our own raised garden. After pumpkin pie with Cool Whip, everyone helped to clean up the kitchen. We left with full tummies and feelings of thankfulness.

Our lives are, in truth, ours to design. We can create an exciting life by simply doing what excites us whenever the opportunity presents itself. Conclusion of Glimpse Into Asheville

Winter Robinson has taken us to museums and unique stores, now let us explore her final destinations. For part 1, click here; for part 2, click here.

Is live music your thing? Asheville is home to many musicians playing along the streets of downtown providing fantastic ambiance and beautiful atmosphere. Looking for a more interactive experience? Check out the drum circle which usually meets on Fridays during April to October. This wonderful event takes place in a local downtown park and allows visitors the chance to bring their drum and play along. Full of wonder and excitement, this drum circle is sure to hit the right beat.

Not too keen on standing around outside? Try the many bars and clubs scattered throughout the city. Weinhaus or Cork and Keg’s brilliant rhythm will get you moving and grooving to some amazing bluegrass sounds.

Music not your thing? Then, experience the Asheville Pinball Museum. Home too classic and modern pinballs, this outstanding collection includes such greats as the Ghostbuster pinball, Evel Knievel, and Revenge of Mars. They have old Bally machines like Harlem Globetrotters and cool Williams machines with the bells and original sounds still intact. Their wonderful sister location downstairs called The Amazing Poster Vault, sells not only posters, but they have old video games to play as well as a lunchbox hall of fame.

While visiting the pinball museum, it’s recommended to have a visual guide with you. There are certain display only pinballs. The Pinball Museum is 30 dollars for two people. Cost reduces to 20 dollars if purchasing a 5 dollar admission from the Poster Vault. Acceptance into the Pinball Museum allows you to play all the games available except display machines. The following Beatles Beeetlemainia, Godzilla, and Star Wars Pod racers are 50 cents each to play in addition to the entrance fee.

In conclusion, enjoy music on the streets for free. Donations of gratitude are always accepted. Have a good time dancing at Cork and Keg for only 7 dollars. When you’re hungry, food prices can range from Buxton’s Chicken Palace $11 chicken club to the rather lavish Gemellis Café, where a scrumptious Irish coffee is only 11 dollars. Or for only 8 dollars you can get interesting gifts from Madame Clutterbuckets shop.

So, explore Asheville on for size. Whether you’re visiting for the weekend, move for IFB, or venture somewhere else besides Biltmore, give this wonderful place a chance you won’t regret it.

Have an amazing week!

Faith
