Also, be sure to check out the new support group, On the Spectrum, and spread the word about IFB’s latest job openings. Lastly, show your support for your co-workers by joining them at the Clemmons Record Show on June 23, and see if you can solve The IFB Beat riddle of the week!

Riddle: I have keys but no locks and no rooms. You can enter, but you can’t go outside. What am I?

Thanks for reading the IFB Beat and have a wonderful week!

Meet the HR Team!

In the next few editions of the IFB Beat, we will introduce you to the IFB Solutions HR department. This week we highlight Mary Hunter, Employee Relations Manager and Melissa Berryhill, Employee Relations Specialist.

Mary Hunter: Employee Relations Manager

Mary Hunter has been a dedicated member of the IFB team for almost 9 years. She discovered IFB through an internet search for HR jobs in Asheville. During a tour of the Asheville facility led by Randy Buckner, VP of Manufacturing Operations, Mary felt an immediate connection and hoped for an opportunity to join the team. Her wish was fulfilled, and she has been thriving in her role ever since.

As the Employee Relations Manager, Mary coordinates and directs the Employee Relations programs and functions for the Asheville, Winston-Salem, and Puerto Rico facilities. She oversees a team that includes the Employee Relations Specialists and Receptionists, ensuring smooth operations and a positive work environment across all locations.

Reflecting on her time at IFB, Mary says, “I’ve been employed by IFB for almost 9 years and have yet to come to work!” This statement underscores her passion and fulfillment in her role, making it feel less like work and more like a calling.

Mary is a proud graduate of Clemson University and is married with two grown sons. Outside of work, she enjoys watching college football, playing the piano, and gardening. Her multifaceted interests and commitment to her work make her an invaluable asset to the IFB team.

Melissa Berryhill: Employee Relations Specialist

Melissa Berryhill has been a great asset to IFB since she joined in April 2024. Her journey with the company began when she discovered the opportunity on Indeed, and she has since dedicated herself to fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

As an Employee Relations Specialist, Melissa plays a pivotal role in supporting our employees. Her responsibilities include managing payroll timecards, translating documents, and effectively communicating with employees to understand and address their concerns. She provides guidance, identifies the root causes of issues, maintains employee details, observes, and tracks employee performance, and keeps detailed records of promotions and benefits.

Melissa describes her experience working at IFB as “inspirational.” Her dedication and commitment to our employees are evident in everything she does. She says she has found a true work family. Outside of work, she loves spending quality time with her two grown boys, goddaughter, and grandson and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work at Appalachian State University. A passionate ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, Melissa plans to focus on this advocacy in her master’s degree program. She also enjoys playing putt-putt, spending time with her 12-year-old Pekingese, and spending time volunteering at local shelters giving the dogs some much needed play time and love. We’re glad to have Melissa and her many talents as part of the IFB team!

campers and staff outside at Camp Dogwood all wearing royal blue Camp Abilities NC T-shirts

For the second year, IFB Solutions Programs and Governor Morehead School for the Blind partnered to provide Camp Abilities NC. We enjoyed a week at Camp Dogwood in Sherrills Ford, NC on Lake Norman. Activities included boating, swimming, fishing, kayaking, beep ball, basketball, putt-putt, archery, bb guns, ax throwing, arts/crafts, corn hole, board games, and more. A highlight of the week was sitting around the campfire singing and making s’mores. Good food, walking from one activity to another, flag ceremonies, and hot temperatures gave campers and staff a great camp experience. Now campers from all across NC have memories and friendships that will last.
