Meet the HR Team!

In the next few editions of the IFB Beat, we will introduce you to the IFB Solutions HR department. This week we highlight Tammy Whitemire-Powers, Benefits Administrator and Cheryl Krest, Payroll Supervisor.

Tammy Whitemire-Powers: Benefits Administrator

Tammy Whitemire-Powers recently joined IFB in April 2024, after being contacted through an agency via her LinkedIn account. With over a decade of experience in Benefits with Truist, Tammy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a Benefits Administrator. Tammy is responsible for managing employee benefits programs, enrolling new hires, and communicating benefit information to the team. Her duties include administering benefit plans, processing claims, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting employees during open enrollment periods by assisting with benefit elections and providing education on updates. Collaboration with other departments is key to the seamless administration and communication of benefits.

Reflecting on her initial experience at IFB, Tammy shares, “My first week with IFB has been awesome! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many incredible individuals within the organization. I feel privileged to be part of a team that strongly advocates for equal opportunities and support for every individual, regardless of ability, to succeed in life. It’s an honor for me to contribute to the organization’s mission and serve its people.”

Outside of work, Tammy is married and blessed with two children, two grandchildren, and eagerly anticipates the arrival of her first granddaughter in September. She enjoys spending time with her family, taking long walks in the park with her two dogs, hiking, playing tennis, and reading. Tammy’s professional dedication and personal warmth make her a valued member of the IFB team.

 

Cheryl Krest: Payroll Supervisor

Cheryl Krest has been an integral part of the IFB team for six years, bringing her extensive experience and dedication to her role as Payroll Supervisor. Her journey with IFB began indirectly in 2005 while she was working at ABVI in Rochester, NY. During that time, ABVI secured a contract to produce Airforce training pants, which led Cheryl to visit IFB’s facilities in North Carolina. Captivated by the area, she relocated a few months later, although it wasn’t until 13 years after her move that she officially joined IFB.

In her current role, Cheryl handles all aspects of payroll processing, including generating various reports, managing W-2 forms, processing employee changes such as direct deposits, and ensuring accurate tax withholdings. Her meticulous attention to detail and dedication ensure that payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Cheryl’s passion for her job is evident in her words: “I believe in IFB’s mission and love my job. I have enjoyed meeting and working with the very diverse group of employees we have.” This quote captures her commitment to IFB and her appreciation for the inclusive and dynamic work environment.

With 25 years of payroll experience, Cheryl’s expertise is well-established. Outside of work, she enjoys a fulfilling personal life. Cheryl is a proud mother of two adult children and a loving grandmother to three grandchildren. She also enjoys reading and cherishes her 4-legged fur baby, with whom she loves taking nature walks.

Cheryl’s blend of professional dedication and personal warmth makes her a valued member of the IFB team, contributing to the organization’s success and fostering a positive workplace culture.

 

IFB Solutions Support Group Updates:

Coming soon: On the Spectrum Support Group

We are excited to announce the formation of a new support group specifically for individuals on the Autism spectrum, with a particular emphasis on those who are visually impaired, as well as those connected to someone on the spectrum. Meetings will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 12 PM in Tad’s room, beginning on Thursday, June 20. President Winter Robinson warmly welcomes all interested parties to join us for fellowship and information!

CLVC Item of the Week:

Talking Food Cans for $25.95

Helps the visually impaired identify the contents of their canned food. Identifying different objects of a similar shape is difficult for the visually impaired who want to stay independent. Talking Food Cans solve this problem by using a recordable voice message to tell you what the item is.

Clemmons Record Show – Plan to Attend Sunday, June 23
