Announcing Christmas in July Bonus

We are pleased to announce that our hourly workforce (including temporary employees) will receive a Christmas in July bonus this year. Hourly employees who were hired prior to July 9th 2023 and are still active on July 21 and are paid hourly will see a $100 bonus directly deposited into bank accounts on July 21. IFB Solutions Annual Golf Tournament Update

Wining foursome pose with their trophy

IFB Solutions’ 7th Annual Asheville Golf Tournament, presented by Massif, was a success! The Philanthropy Team gives their sincere thanks to the supportive businesses, sponsors, donors and volunteers that generously gave of their time, talent and resources, all of which ensured another successful golf tournament. More than $170,000 was raised to help support employment, training and services for people who are blind and visually impaired at IFB Solutions.

What’s Happening on the Floor: Amazing Progress in the T-Shirt Department

Each year, tens of thousands of moisture-wicking combat t-shirts for the Army are manufactured in Winston-Salem facility for soldiers in the field. The 40-person team has a production goal of 4,000 shirts per week. Each shirt consists of more than seven operations for completion.

The team, supervised by Rikki Moosbrugger and supported by production assistant Richard Brown, recently exceeded their production goal for the first time. On May 31 they reached a record high of 4,305 shirts!
Rikki states ”This is an incredible achievement. I am very proud and grateful for all the teams continued hard work.” It’s awesome seeing IFB’s core value of Mission Possible in action! Keep up the good work T-Shirt Department!

Supply Chain Team Update

At IFB Solutions, most of our business that drives both revenue and blind work hours is from the federal government through a contract. In recent years, the importance of contract management has risen, and I am excited today to announce that Kim Freeman has been promoted to Manager of Contract Administration and Customer Service. She will report directly to Ken Edwards. Kim has been with IFB for more than 29 years and in her most recent role as Asheville Facility Office Manager has directly supported or even led several aspects of this new role. Her deep knowledge of our organization, contract administration, and D365 along with her unwavering commitment to excellence have been the foundation of her success.

Zach Cain, IFB Solutions Contracts Administrator, will be leaving IFB mid-July to pursue other opportunities. Kim will be working over the next few weeks to take over the responsibilities currently held by Zach. Please extend your congratulations and best wishes to Kim in her new role and Zach in his new endeavor.

The S.E.E. kids filled a bird feeder shaped like a little red schoolhouse with wild bird seed and hung it in the tree in front of Tracy’s Little Red Schoolhouse. There have already been lots of feathered visitors to the feast. We learned to use the app Merlin Bird ID to identify which birds are our guests.

Greetings IFB Family!

When was the last time you went through everything you own? Seriously! From the front door to the back. Every room, closet, drawer, and shelf in between. We don’t realize how many things we get bogged down with until it’s time to move. My first move I had a backpack, suitcase, and two boxes. Now, I need the largest U-Hall I can find and four men to move heavy furniture. Result of the motto, “buy once, use for years”. It’s crazy how things have changed. So instead of driving myself insane transporting unnecessary items, I’m combing through everything. If I haven’t used it in a year, I don’t need it. Now, you don’t have to be so extreme, but look around your space and lighten your load. Who knows, you may find things you forgot you possess.

By the way, many of you are unaware of how much work it is to keep a weekly publication going. Let Anastasia and marketing team know your appreciation for their diligent work. Send to apowell@ifbsolutions.org.

Until next time family, clean up, clear out, and be free!

Lost your parked car lately?

After having a grand time at the amusement park, event center or long day at work, you’re ready to go. Exiting, you find yourself staring at a sea of vehicles you didn’t pay attention to before. Apple thinks they solved this problem for iPhone users with Maps Parked Car feature. For this to work, your car will need either CarPlay or a Bluetooth stereo that your iPhone pairs with.

First, set up and turn on the iOS parked car feature by:

  • Opening the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down, select Maps.
  • Under the “Your Car” heading, toggle on Show Parked Location. This will allow your parked car to appear on the map as a blue pin.
  • With this feature on, Maps will automatically remember where you’ve parked your car, but keep in mind that your car’s location will only be updated according to the most recent time your iPhone was connected to CarPlay via cable plugin or Bluetooth.

Finding your vehicle via Maps app and CarPlay.

  • Open the Maps app.
  • A blue pin will show you where your car is parked.
  • Select the pin to see more specific information and add notes or photos to help you remember the exact location.
  • Get in, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!
