Celebrating the 34th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

This year marks the 34th anniversary of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law enacted on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. The ADA has been instrumental in breaking down barriers and promoting equality for millions of Americans with disabilities. By ensuring access to public spaces, employment opportunities, transportation, and more, the ADA continues to empower individuals with disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Join us in celebrating this significant milestone and the ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive society.

Finance Team Update

Headshot of Jason Moser
Jason Moser, IFB Solutions CFO

The IFB Finance team is thrilled to announce that, excluding one-time events, the third quarter of 2024 (April, May, and June) has been our best quarter in the last five years. Despite several challenging years, your dedication to IFB and your commitment to delivering quality work have made these outstanding results possible. We look forward to more exceptional quarters ahead. Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work!

AbilityOne Commission Representatives Visit the Asheville Facility

Ramon Barreto with the Commission assembling ice cube trays while blindfolded to understand the value of labor our employees who are blind add to each product

Representatives from the AbilityOne Commission enjoyed an informative tour of the Asheville facility. They had a great time engaging with employees and participating in activities while wearing blindfolds. They spent valuable time in the IMP and MR departments, gaining a deeper understanding of the significant contributions our blind employees make to each product. The Asheville team was an excellent host, providing our guests with a clear understanding of the crucial importance of sustaining employment for people who are blind in the Asheville community.

Reminder: Ticketing System Process and Procedures for Manufacturing Employees

At IFB, we are committed to ensuring that all employee needs are promptly and effectively addressed. One of the key processes in place to achieve this is our ticketing system, which is designed to handle concerns, support, and questions related to HR, Payroll, Marketing, Low Vision, Finance, IT, and other departments. Here’s a detailed overview of how this process works:

Initiating a Ticket:

  • Employees should first contact their supervisor to report any needs or concerns.
  • Supervisors will then create a ticket on behalf of the employee by selecting the appropriate department and adding as much detail as possible, including the name of the employee.

Timeliness and Efficiency:

  • Supervisors are expected to submit tickets within 24 hours of being notified by the employee.
  • The responsible department should review and respond to the ticket as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours of submission to ensure timely resolution. Response times may vary depending on the type of request and department/team availability.

Submission and Review:

  • Once the ticket is submitted, it is logged and queued for review by the relevant department staff.
  • The department responsible for the ticket will review it to understand the issue and determine the necessary actions.

Response and Resolution:

  • After reviewing the ticket, the department will either contact the supervisor to schedule an appointment with the employee for further discussion or directly resolve the issue if an appointment is not needed.
  • The supervisor will be informed of the resolution or the scheduled appointment details through the ticket.

We appreciate the cooperation of all supervisors, managers, and department heads in adhering to this process. Your efforts help ensure that all employee needs are met efficiently and that any issues are resolved without unnecessary delays.

PLEASE NOTE: If the employee’s need or concern is such that the employee would prefer to keep it confidential or anonymous, IFB employees have access to an employee hotline that is available 24/7. If there is a critical situation that needs complete confidentiality, employees can call the Employee Hotline at 866-494-3161 and use pen number 4160. A Compliance Officer on staff with IFB will review the report and address the situation or contact the employee directly if employee name is provided. The Employee Hotline number is posted in the executive breakroom, and the “safety” wall near the HR hallway, and the timeclock near the T-shirt department. It is also available in braille and large print in the middle information box on the Employee Information Wall, located in the employee entrance.

If there are any questions or further clarification needed regarding the ticketing system, please do not hesitate to contact your supervisor. Thank you for your continued dedication to maintaining a supportive and responsive workplace environment.

See what S.E.E. is Doing!

campers playing a game on the floor aiming plastic ants at a plastic pair of pants with suspenders

The S.E.E. Day Camp kids learned about the life cycle of a butterfly with snacks. At the top of a paper plate, a miniature marshmallow represented the egg. On the right side of the plate was a gummy worm as the caterpillar. At the bottom of the plate another gummy worm was wrapped in edible Play Dough showing the chrysalis. To the left side of the plate, a gummy butterfly rested as the adult. This plate taught the circle of life for a butterfly and provided a sweet treat as well.

CLVC Item of the Week:

Talking Food Cans

Talking Food Cans for $25.95

Talking Food Cans help the visually impaired identify the contents of their canned food. Identifying different objects of a similar shape is difficult for the visually impaired who want to stay independent. Talking Food Cans solve this problem by using a recordable voice message to tell you what the item is.

If you have questions or are interested in any of the weekly items, please contact your local CLVC for assistance.
