Summer Camps for Kids who are Blind

Summer vacation—it’s something almost every school-age kid eagerly anticipates. But that wasn’t the case for Sam Chandler at age 11. Sam’s been nearly blind since he was very young—he has no vision in the left eye and 20/1600 in the right eye. That means that what he can see at 20 feet, the average person can see clearly at 1600 feet.

IFB Solutions win Innovator Award from the Winston-Salem Chronicle

The city’s oldest and most respected community newspaper rolled out the red carpet and invited more than 1,000 people from all walks of life to come together and celebrate those in our community who go the extra mile to make a difference during The Chronicle’s Annual Community Service Awards held on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.

IFB Solutions was honored with The Chronicle Innovation Award.

Winston-Salem Businesses Raising Money To Send Kids Who Are Blind To Summer Camp

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.– Eighteen bars, restaurants, and music venues in Winston-Salem are engaging in a friendly competition this month to see who can raise the most money to send kids who are blind to summer camps for free.

Every year since Ben James was six years old, he has been blessed with the opportunity to go to summer day camps called S.E.E., or Student Enrichment Experience. It is hosted by IFB Solutions and it is for kids who are blind or visually impaired.

Curtis Chase Named Operations Director at IFB Solutions

LITTLE ROCK, A.R. – Curtis Chase has been promoted to director of operations at IFB Solutions Little Rock, formerly Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind. Chase has been with the company for 19 years, most recently serving as production manager. In his new position, he will oversee a staff of 140, with 75% being blind or visually impaired, in all manufacturing functions at the Little Rock facility.

Restaurants and Others Plan Fundraisers for IFB

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – During the month of May, a handful of local restaurants, breweries and others will be raising money for the Help Kids S.E.E. camps of IFB Solutions. The program sends blind children to summer camp for free. The camps are part of IFB’s programs to help blind children develop skills for independent living, including such skills as cooking. This month, participating businesses will raise money for the camps in a variety of ways.
