IFB Race: Santa’s Showdown Asheville
2019 Santa’s Showdown: Reindeer vs. Elves 5K
The inaugural Santa’s Showdown in WNC will take place on Saturday, December 14 at Recreation Park in East Asheville. This unique event will pit runners representing Elves and Reindeer against each other to establish North Pole supremacy for the coming year.
How does this work? Half the entrants will be designated as reindeer and half the entrants will be designated as elves. At the end of the race, the average time of each group (reindeer vs. elves) will be calculated. The group with the lowest average time will be declared the overall winner!
We will also give out special awards to the Top 5 female and Top 5 male elves, and the Top 5 female and Top 5 male reindeer.
Share your team victory via social media with our Virtual Tree – each year we will update this tree with an elf or a reindeer to designate the winner for a particular year. Stay tuned!
Out of town for the holidays? No problem! Santa can always find you. Participate in our virtual race. Sign up, run, and report your time. Details to follow.

Elves & Reindeers
All participants will be randomly designated as either an Elf or a Reindeer. Participants find out at packet pick-up if they are an elf or a reindeer. Due to the complicated nature of this process and timing it correctly, switches will not be allowed.
All participants MUST wear their race shirt on race day (either their reindeer shirt or elf shirt) and their assigned bib. Headgear that we provide runners (reindeer antlers and elf hat) are optional but encouraged.
Upon the finish of the 5K, please enjoy water, snacks, and hot drinks and soups from event sponsors. The Awards Ceremony will take place at approximately 10 AM as part of the Post Race Celebration.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female elves and reindeers. There will be no age group awards for this event.
Volunteers are needed for Set-Up, Course Marshals, Aid Station, Food & Drink and Take-Down. This event will not happen without a great group of volunteers. To be one, email Emily Lancucki at firstname.lastname@example.org
